The present invention relates to an organic EL (electroluminescence) device and a display device using the organic EL device, in particular, to an organic EL device, that is, an organic EL element and a display device using the organic EL device, having a structure in which an organic layer containing a light-emitting material and a pair of electrodes sandwiching the organic layer are provided, and to the structure of the organic EL device.
2. Description of the Related Art
In recent years, a technique for forming a thin film transistor (hereinafter referred to as a TFT) on a substrate has been greatly advanced, and development of its application to an active matrix display device has been advanced. Especially, since a TFT in which a polysilicon film is used for an active region has high field effect mobility, the TFT may be put to various uses. For example, it may be utilized as a switching element or a driver circuit of the active matrix display device.
Furthermore, it is known that the electric characteristics of the TFT formed using the polysilicon film are not uniform among TFTs even if they are the same type. Therefore, it is difficult to provide the TFTs of all pixels in an active matrix display device. For that reason, there is a method of providing a driver circuit for driving a pixel, which includes TFTs, on an insulating substrate that is different from a substrate of the pixel and forming the pixel by using TFTs formed in the periphery of the substrate.
