The group held a press conference to demand that the Senate agree to take a position against the use of children by the Afghan Security Forces (ASF), whom they claim are responsible for the deaths of dozens of civilians, and expressed their frustration that the Senate has not passed a measure to address the issue.
“Our children have been used as cannon fodder for this war since before President Obama took office,” said David Schippers, a father whose son was killed in Iraq by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and an Afghan Security Force soldier. “This legislation is about stopping the vicious cycle of war, it’s about stopping the needless death and destruction of innocent civilians, and it’s about doing it the right way.”
